To be honest, I don’t have much of a fitness background. I played some sports in high school and stayed somewhat active after that. I honestly spent years lying to myself about what was “healthy.” If I wasn’t overweight, I was okay, even if it meant being a vegetarian who smoked lots of cigarettes and drank a lot. This just makes it all the more impressive what CrossFit has done for me. It speaks volumes as to the proficiency and effectiveness of CrossFit’s methods, philosophy, and the community that surrounds it.
My best friend Joe Williams brought me to my first WOD on July 9th, 2012. THIS was what I had been looking for. A year later, I had put down the smokes, partying fell way down my priority list, and I became a Level-1 Certified Trainer. I’m inspired daily by the CrossFit population (more specifically, CrossFit Raw Steel!). My desire is to continue to make myself and those around me better athletes and better people. I’m working every day to make myself a better athlete and better coach so that I can help my CrossFit family, who are sure to turn around and inspire me again. And thus the cycle continues.
